This Laser Policy & Terms and Conditions applies to all appointments booked with Mornington Peninsula Health (ABN 20 790 477 004), and affiliated business' within MPH.
At Mornington Peninsula Health, all laser treatments are performed using medical-grade devices under strict clinical protocols, all staff have completed extensive training.
Laser treatments are highly effective, however they carry risks if guidelines are not followed. These may include burns, blistering, or pigmentation changes.
For this reason, we reserve the right to decline or postpone treatment if it is not safe to proceed.
A consultation is required prior to commencing treatment.
You must disclose all relevant information including:
• Medications and supplements
• Medical conditions
• Skin history
• Pregnancy or breastfeeding
• Recent sun exposure or tanning
Some conditions or medications may require GP clearance prior to treatment.
By proceeding with treatment, you confirm that all information provided is accurate and up to date.
Treatment may not be performed if any of the following are present:
• Active skin infections, wounds, or irritation
• Recent sunburn or active tanning (avoid tanning - including fake tan minimum of 2 weeks prior to your sessions)
• Use of photosensitising medications
• Certain medical conditions or uncontrolled health issues
• Suspicious or untreated skin lesions
A Laser Discovery Session (patch test) is strongly recommended prior to commencing treatment or purchasing packages.
This consultation allows for appropriate clinical assessment of your skin, hair type, medical history, and treatment suitability, ensuring safe and effective outcomes.
This is particularly important for clients with hormonal concerns, skin sensitivity, or a history of adverse reactions.
Clients who choose to proceed without consultation do so at their own discretion. Mornington Peninsula Health is not responsible for unsuitable treatment selection or pre purchased packages where prior assessment has not been completed.
Skin must be completely free of fake tan.
If unsure, wipe the area with an alcohol swab. If any colour is visible, treatment cannot proceed.
Laser cannot safely distinguish between pigment in the hair and pigment in the skin. Treating over fake tan significantly increases the risk of burns and pigmentation.
The treatment area must be cleanly shaved prior to your appointment.
Laser cannot be performed over visible hair above the skin.
If shaving has not occurred properly, an extra fee may be added to your session, or the area unable to receive treatment.
No products on the skin, including:
• Makeup (for face treatments)
• Deodorant (for underarm treatments)
• Lotions, moisturiser, or oils on the area
• Active skincare (for face treatments)
Skin must be clean, dry, and product-free.
Avoid sun exposure and tanning for a minimum of 2 weeks prior to treatment.
Tanned skin significantly increases the risk of adverse reactions.
You must inform us of any changes to:
• Medications
• Skincare
• Health status
• Sun exposure
Failure to disclose changes may result in unsafe treatment.
Following treatment:
• Avoid heat (exercise, sauna, hot showers)
• Avoid friction and tight clothing
• Use Aloe Vera on the area
• Avoid active skincare (retinol, acids)
• Use gentle skincare and SPF
• Avoid sun exposure
• Wear SPF 30+ daily
• Do not wax or pluck between sessions (only shaving)
Failure to follow aftercare may increase risk of complications, or decreased desired results.
Laser hair removal provides long-term permanent hair reduction, not complete removal.
Laser is not effective on grey, white, or very light blonde hair.
• Body areas: approximately 6–10 sessions
• Hormonal areas (e.g. face, brazilian area): approximately 8–12+ sessions
Individual results vary depending on hair type, skin type, and hormonal influences.
Hormones play a significant role in hair growth.
Conditions such as hormonal imbalance, PCOS, pregnancy, or certain medications may stimulate new hair growth over time.
Following completion of an initial treatment course, maintenance sessions are typically required:
• Approximately 1–2 sessions per year
For optimal results, treatments must be completed at recommended intervals.
Irregular or delayed treatments may reduce effectiveness and require additional sessions.
Laser treatments are safe when protocols are followed.
However, risks may include:
• Burns
• Blistering
• Pigmentation changes
• Skin irritation
These risks are increased if pre and post care instructions are not followed.
Children are not permitted in treatment rooms or to be left unattended in the clinic.
This ensures safety as special glasses must be worn in the Laser sessions for safety and we do not have these for extra people in the room.
• Packages under 8 sessions: valid for 12 months
• Packages 8+ sessions: valid for 18 months
Packages are non-transferable and non-refundable, and expire is naturally from the date of purchase.
Please refer to our cancellation policy.
Late arrivals may result in reduced treatment time or forfeited appointments.
Results vary between individuals.
We do not guarantee permanent hair removal or specific outcomes.
No refunds are provided for completed treatments or unused sessions outside of expiry.
If you experience any unexpected reaction following treatment, you must contact the clinic as soon as possible on phone: 03 5982 3571 or email info@mph.net.au
Early management is essential to reduce complications.
We reserve the right to:
• Decline or postpone treatment
• Adjust treatment parameters
• Refuse treatment if pre-care has not been followed
This is to ensure client safety and treatment integrity.
